WESTFIELD — Mayor Michael McCabe said the Coalition for Outreach, Recovery and Prevention of Greater Westfield, also known as CORE, remains 'in limbo' until the state Legislature determines how cities and towns can use funds from a $26 billion opioid settlement.McCabe said he is waiting for the Legislature to return to session to determine whether the settlement money that comes to Westfield can be put into a special fund or if it will go into the city's general fund. The national settlement was a $26 billion resolution with opioid distributors who have been blamed for worsening the opioid addiction crisis in the name of profit.
